General CBD Questions
What Is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s just one of many different molecules known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa (hemp) plant. CBD has many beneficial properties and is commonly used to promote overall wellness. It is a non-psychoactive oil and works with your body to help heal it naturally.
How does CBD work?
CBD works with the body’s endocannabinoid system (also known as the ECS), which was discovered by scientists in the 1990s. The ECS is responsible for overall health, including appetite, digestion, energy, immune function, memory, metabolism, mood, sleep, stress response…. and more. It’s kind of a big deal.
Unfortunately, the ECS is “locked” within us. The good news is that hemp, and specifically the cannabinoids that hemp contains, act as the keys to the whole ECS. CBD helps open up the ECS receptors in the lungs, kidneys, liver, bones, heart, reproductive organs, and immune system. CBD works like a multivitamin for the ECS, giving your body the nutrients it needs to perform at its best.
What’s the difference between hemp and marijuana?
The biggest difference between the two is the amount of THC found in the plant. The high THC content in marijuana causes it to have a psychoactive effect when it is used. Hemp has been specifically bred for its high CBD content and a low THC content. Hemp is believed to have many of the same benefits as marijuana, and it doesn’t give its users any sort of high or euphoria.
What is CBD oil made from?
CBD oil comes from hemp plants. Cannabinoids and terpenes (the good stuff) are then extracted from the flowers of the cannabis sativa strains rich in CBD and low in THC. We use the industry’s cleanest method of supercritical CO2 extraction helping us keep our CBD pure, potent, and tasting freaking fantastic.
Does CBD oil have THC?
Hemp contains high concentrations of cannabidiol (CBD) and almost no THC (the legal limit is 0.3%).
This means you won’t get high off the CBD hemp products. You may feel relaxed, free from physical or mental pain, and more able to sleep. You’ll recognize other positive changes in your overall well-being because of how CBD works to strengthen your endocannabinoid system.
All hemp-derived products are legal in the United States; this covers both federal and state laws. The Farm bill of 2018 allows companies to legally grow, process, sell, and transport CBD hemp products.
Taking CBD
How long does CBD take to work?
CBD oil affects everyone differently because each person’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is unique. Factors that influence how the CBD works include your general health, the amount of CBD you’re taking, and the purity, potency, and bioavailability of the CBD oil you take.
Wild Lotus products have superior bioavailability so more CBD ends up where you need it. That’s because our proprietary technology extracts cannabinoids from hemp directly into water, making water soluble hemp products that allow for 91% absorption, as opposed to the industry standard of only 6% to 12%. This makes our CBD highly efficient, effective, and fast-acting. This also means it’s less expensive in the long run, because you need to take less of the product to feel the effects.
The way you take CBD also matters. Start with small does to gauge your body’s response to it, then adjust from there.
How much CBD should I take? How often should I take it?
We suggest starting with a small dosage of CBD and increasing slowly until you reach your desired effect. Your ideal dosage of CBD depends on a lot of factors, including body weight, body chemistry, the condition you’re treating, and the concentration of CBD in the product you’re using. As a general rule, you can start with 1 to 3 milligrams per 10 pounds of body weight.
Because we are all unique, the dosage of CBD needed will vary. Some may require just a few drops to bring their ECS into balance, and those with more pressing health issues may require more.
Weight | Mild Range | Medium Range | High Range |
46-85 lbs | 9mg | 12 mg | 15 mg |
86-150 lbs | 12mg | 15mg | 18mg |
151-240 lbs | 18mg | 22.5mg | 27mg |
241+ lbs | 22.5 mg | 30 mg | 45 mg |
What’s the most effective way to take CBD?
CBD tinctures: This method of use has the highest and fastest absorption rate of cannabidiol so you’ll need less CBD to get the same great results. It’s easy to use and provides fast-acting relief. To use a tincture, hold the oil under your tongue for 60 seconds, or combine it with your favorite beverage.
CBD gummies: One of the most discreet, easy, and fun ways to get your daily CBD boost is in a gummy. Our gummies contain 10 mg of full spectrum CBD per piece so you can precisely find the dose that works for you every day.
CBD topicals: topicals, such as lotions, creams, or balms, are aimed to relieve muscle pain and discomfort. CBD topicals have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties to give you therapeutic support. Like lotion, apply a generous amount to the affected area. CBD gets absorbed through the skin at significantly lower rates than other ways, so you’ll need to use a little bit more.
Why do you recommend taking Wild Lotus daily?
We want you to get the best results from using Wild Lotus CBD. Being consistent and regular with your CBD doses provides an important way to maximize the natural balancing properties of CBD. Once absorbed by the body, CBD interacts with the cannabinoid receptors, prompting a chemical response designed to restore your endocannabinoid system’s balance. The many benefits of strengthening your endocannabinoid system are not necessarily experienced right away.
CBD, like all cannabinoids, build up in the body over time and even encourage the development of more cannabinoid receptors. With more cannabinoid receptors, your endocannabinoid system increases in activity and sensitivity to stimulation by cannabinoids. Consistently taking CBD as part of your wellness routine helps maintain a sustained level of CBD in your body, expanding the effectiveness of your endocannabinoid system. For some CBD users, taking a dose of CBD oil 2-3 times a day provides added support, especially for those who rely on the CBD’s healing properties.
Can You Overdose On CBD?
There have been no reported overdose deaths from CBD or other hemp products. Pure CBD oil is non-toxic and has been tested in human trials in doses up to 1500mg-2000mg in a single day without significant side effects. However, there is little evidence that extra large dosages result in substantial additional health benefits. The endocannabinoid system acts to balance the body. Once it is activated and sufficiently well-oiled, it performs its function. Since an effective dose is well below the tested limits, it’s not practical to waste money on megadosing CBD.
I’m not feeling the CBD effect, what should I do?
If you have tried CBD products without seeing noticeable benefits, here are some things to consider and adjust to help you manage a number of ailments including chronic pain, inflammation, stress, insomnia, seizures.
Type: CBD oil works by interacting with your body’s unique endocannabinoid system, so what works for one person may not work for another. You might want to test different types of CBD products to find out what works for you.
Source: Make sure you are taking a high quality CBD product that is safe, potent, and pure. Safe CBD products begin with organic soil, clean water, and responsible farming practices. Hemp can absorb large quantities of trace elements, so it’s important to use organic, domestically sourced hemp. In the United States, hemp is grown under stricter conditions than many other places. Look for CBD that has a rigorous 3rd party testing system to reveal exactly how much CBD is in the product.
Dosage: Finding the right amount of CBD can be a tricky process since each person has unique biology that can result in a different reaction. Try starting with by taking the minimum recommended amount, then increasing your dosage until you find an amount that works perfectly for you. Some products have CBD content that’s lower than the recommended reasonable minimum dosage of 10-40 milligrams per day, so make sure you check the product label to get the right amount.
Time: CBD is a dietary supplement, not medication. This means it can take some time before you notice the benefits. Your body may need more time to reach its distinctive balance.
Full-Spectrum: If you are using a CBD isolate product, it might be time to give full spectrum CBD a shot. Full spectrum CBD contains more than 113 additional cannabinoids and terpenes. Together they create what we like to call the “entourage effect,” which means they work together to magnify the benefits from each other. Your body benefits from the combined effort of all these cannabinoids working together.
Delivery System: Common forms of CBD include: tinctures, topical creams, and edible gummies or chocolates. CBD products vary in bioavailability, which determines how much of the CBD actually gets into your bloodstream. Our proprietary technology helps us formulate our water-soluble hemp products and allow for 91% absorption, versus the industry standard of only 6%-12%. This makes it highly efficient, fast-acting, and less expensive because you need less per dose.
Wild Lotus CBD Products
Why do you recommend taking Wild Lotus daily?
- Full Spectrum vs. Isolate: Probably the most important factor to consider when buying CBD products is whether it is a full spectrum product or an isolate. A full spectrum oil will give you the benefits of CBD, as well as a many other cannabinoids to help boost your endocannabinoid system. An isolate just contains CBD, so it lacks the benefit of the other cannabinoids in the oil with it. It’s similar to the difference between a Vitamin C pill, and a multivitamin.
- Strength/Potency: Another important factor to keep in mind is how much CBD is in each bottle, and how it is absorbed by the body. You’ll want to make sure that you are getting a product that is potent enough to work for your needs, and that will help you to achieve the desired outcome.
- Where the CBD was sourced: CBD, like food from a grocery store, can be farmed in a variety of ways. One thing you’ll want to watch for are hemp products that are farmed organically. Because hemp is great at absorbing nutrients from the earth, it also is great at absorbing hard metals and chemicals from pesticides used on them. Organically grown hemp greatly reduces the risk of having those extra chemicals, making it a safer option for you, and for the environment.
- Preferred method of ingestion: There are plenty of ways to consume CBD oil including tincture (oral drops), gummies, creams, other types of edibles, drinks and more. When choosing a product, you want to choose which of these types of products works best for you and your needs.
Where do you source your hemp and CBD from?
U.S. hemp is grown under stricter conditions than in many other countries. We use only organically farmed hemp sourced in South Carolina and Oregon This high- quality industrial hemp comes from healthy soil, clean water and ethical farming. We use only industrial hemp growers with multi stage quality control testing at key stages of the process: farm, every master batch, and final production. This allows us to carefully monitor the quality of our CBD so you get only the best.
Are there any certifications for your CBD oils?
All of our oils are also non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, organically grown, and produced according to the Good Manufacturing Practices outlined by the FDA.
What type of testing is performed on your products?
Making safe, high-quality CBD products that help you live the life you want to live requires rigorous quality testing during the entire manufacturing process. All our products are made using local, organic-grown hemp, extracted using solvent free CO2, and free from harmful chemicals. We follow the national Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) with each batch 3rd party tested for safety, purity, and potency.
We go through great lengths to vet our hemp growers and require that all products go through meticulous multi-step testing and quality control systems to guarantee our CBD potency and purity.
- Farm: we test for cannabinoid profile, THC, heavy metals, pesticides, and chemicals.
- Manufacturing: all ingredients are tested for purity and safety before they are used in any products. Our tests include a separate analysis for the cannabinoid profile, potential microbial life, mold, heavy metals, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides. We also conduct pharmacokinetic testing on our products to confirm how easily the cannabinoids can be absorbed in the bloodstream.
- Final production and finished goods: our CBD is tested to ensure that what’s on our label is accurate and safe for our customers to use. This is the final test for potency and safety of our finished product.
- Pharmacokinetic testing: this test is done on all products to confirm the availability of the cannabinoids in the bloodstream.
- Third party lab testing: We use third party testing to ensure our oils are below the 0.3% THC level and to make sure that all our products meet the highest quality standards. We use a third party because we want you to have full confidence that what we report is verified by someone other than our company.
With Wild Lotus, you can be confident you are getting the superior quality CBD oil you expect and a product you can trust to give you all the uncompromising goodness you need.
How do you extract your CBD?
All of our CBD products are made from hemp with the gold standard of supercritical CO2 extraction method. It’s the cleanest method of extracting CBD, it protects our CBD oil’s purity, and it prevents the loss of naturally-occurring terpenes.
This ultra-clean process extracts the CBD oil and other elements that we want from the hemp without any metals or chemicals and results in minimal breakdown of the phytocannabinoid profiles within the final product. This keeps our CBD oil pure and tasting fantastic.
Are your CBD products safe?
Our CBD products are some of the safest on the market. Because we farm our hemp organically, our products are safe from heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, and organic matter like mold. But you don’t have to take our word for it. We third party test each batch to make sure this is backed by science. Our products are tested to make sure they are beneath the 0.3% threshold for THC in the product and to ensure that there aren’t other harmful chemicals within the oil.
Do your products contain THC?
Full spectrum products often contain trace amounts of THC (but less than 0.3%). The reason for this is because small amounts of THC will activate the endocannabinoid system (ECS1), making the CBD more effective within the body. Activating these receptors creates a synergistic effect, allowing them to work in tandem to bring greater balance to the body. We test ours to make sure that it meets or exceeds the FDA regulations for THC content.

Will your CBD products cause positive results on a drug test for THC?
We follow all guidelines according to the FDA, which means our products include less than 0.3% of THC. However, CBD has not been studied for its effect on drug tests.
Will I get high using your products?
Nope! CBD comes from hemp flowers, which is different from marijuana. This means CBD doesn’t contain THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis. CBD oil will not give you the euphoric high feeling that marijuana does.
CBD is non-habit forming so there is no risk of dependence or abuse with CBD. The World Health Organization says that “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. to date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
Shipping and Returns
How will you ship my order?
We ship our orders through USPS and FedEx, and we’ll provide you with a tracking number once your order is processed.
How quickly will you ship my order?
Your order will be shipped and on its way to you within 1-2 business days of ordering.
Can you ship my CBD order to my state?
Yes, we can ship to all 50 states in the United States. We grow our hemp under a state-sanctioned Industrial Hemp Pilot Program (IHPP) established by section 7606 of the Agricultural Act of 2014 (aka the 2014 Farm Bill), which allows us to legally ship CBD to all 50 states.
These laws were further validated by the 2018 Farm Bill, firmly solidifying Industrial Hemp Based CBD products as federally legal. Any state receiving federal funds cannot prohibit the transportation, processing, sale, or use of industrial hemp that is grown or cultivated by one of the IHPPs.
All states currently receive federal funds, so all states are clear for the shipping of hemp-derived CBD products. That said, laws are changing rapidly state by state, so perform a quick Google search to make sure the laws in your state have not changed.
Can you ship orders internationally?
As of right now, we are only shipping orders within the United States.
